It’s a fancy way of saying shit happens – but how else to explain away the mind-boggling randomness of, say, the recent floods in Chennai? Or the plight of the four Tamilian migrant workers tossed into a Guntur prison in Vetri Maaran’s powerful new film,  Visaranai ? The gods of this story, partly adapted from M Chandrakumar’s novel  Lock Up , are the gods of our time – the powerful people who make up the nebulous, all-pervasive, malignant entity we’ve come to call the System. First of all, for those who haven't watched that movie yet. Here comes the SPOILER ALERT!!! Wait.... Nope... Not at all... No Way... Guys go watch the movie and come again. Hello, Movie Buffssss... This is my first post after a long break, cause I was so busy in... Hmmm.... Nothing. So... Just like that I woke up today morning like any other day. Suddenly, I got an idea of doing a plot analysis for AARANYA KAANDAM. So, Here comes  THE PLOT :            The film opens with the aging gangster,  Singaperumal , forcing himself on a young girl,  Subbu . He is unable to perform, and vents his anger by slapping the helpless Subbu. Singaperumal is the grand don of crime in Madras. His lieutenant,  Pasupathi , brings a proposal. A large stash of cocaine, worth about 20 million rupees, has entered the city. The guy bringing the stash wants to sell it for 5 million rupees. Pasupathi sees the immediate easy profit, ...

The winner of 3 national awards and the only Tamil film to be screened at Indian Panorama in International Film Festival of India, IFFI, Goa, 2013, Thanga Meengal is a must watch and it gives a feel even while I watch it after these many years. Now three year after its release one cannot stop to think about the movie and the intricacies that lay within it. The film, backed with stellar performances from the entire cast, tells the tale of a father-daughter relationship with many layers within it, and is a truly heart-warming story. On first look it would be a difficult task to truly understand what the director has laid out in such a beautiful manner (the case with most films) but nevertheless director Ram has definitely given Tamil cinema a new form of sorts.
